The Lord Provost Henry E Rae Community Hub is a complete refurbishment and extension which
provides purpose-built accommodation for community groups and charities. Services provided by
Henry Rae Management Committee include a wide range of community activities for adults, elderly
and those with disabilities.
The building provides a multi-use games area, a purpose built community NHS health hub, a new
state of the art nursery as well as an area for youth work and a community hall. The fabric of the
existing structure was thermally upgraded and the whole building takes advantage of a connection
to the local community heat and power network (CHP). Internally the spaces incorporate a fully
programmable sensor controlled, low voltage LED lighting system. The facility also includes an all
new floodlit MUGA pitch and improved parking.
Hawthorne Boyle carried out the Building Energy Assessment by using Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM) Software.
